Oscilloscope calibrationAn oscilloscope, also commonly known as a scope or DSO,  is an electronic graph-drawing machine used in industries ranging from engineering to the medical field. Throughout these industries, the oscilloscope’s function is to show waveforms on a display. With the mode of operation found on the X-axis and the amplitude found on the Y-axis, this instrument allows users to view properties like time interval, frequency and amplitude.

The Importance of Regular Oscilloscope Calibration

Because both axes are on a calibrated scale, regular calibration is needed to ensure the results are accurate within your tolerances. Faulty readings can negatively influence the integrity of the work you do, potentially harming your business’s reputation. They can also lead to higher costs, unhappy customers and failed products, and can even put people at risk.

We have both the equipment and expertise to calibrate this essential device on a regular basis. Our proven services will ensure your electronics are well-maintained and precisely calibrated so you can deliver accurate results every time.

Types of Oscilloscopes We Can Calibrate

There are two main types of oscilloscopes:

  • Analog: The earliest and simplest version of the oscilloscope, this design is not commonly used today. Analog models work by over time, measuring an electronic’s voltage with a horizontal amplifier, vertical amplifier, time base, power supply and cathode ray tube.
  • Digital: Digital DSOs use an analog-to-display converter (ADC) to convert all the voltage that was measured into digital information. The waveform series are acquired and then stored until there is enough information to describe a waveform.

At MicronPA, we can work with both analog and digital oscilloscopes ranging from handheld to bench models. Regardless of its type, your machine will be calibrated to industry standards.

Our NIST-Traceable Oscilloscope Calibration Capabilities

In addition to working with various types of oscilloscopes, we also provide specialized calibration capabilities like scales, pressure, hardness, comparator testing and more. MicronPA offers mobile and lab-based services to companies located throughout south-central Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and the D.C. Metro area. With a turnaround time of five days or less, you’ll have your oscilloscope back and delivering reliable results you can trust. Rush services are also available if you need your calibration performed even sooner.

MicronPA’s Accreditation and Certificates

MicronPA has received accreditation through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994. In addition to these accreditations, we have over 20 years of experience in the industry and also follow other quality management standards such as those set by ANSI, ASME and ASTM.

We stay current with the latest technology and offer hard copy or electronic oscilloscope calibration certificates that document everything ranging from before and after values to the next recommended service date. Customer service is paramount for our company, so we always want to ensure you are pleased with the quality of our finished work.
